Kalia Antoniou has proved that hard work and dedication always pay off! While racing with the University of Alabama at the NCAA last week, Antoniou gave an excellent performance breaking records, winning a gold, a 5th and a 6th place!
The first success came with Kalia’s the 6th place, with a time of 21.85 at the 50 yards Freestyle race! With this performance, Kalia became the first Alabama woman to finish in the top-eight at the NCAAs since 1994! This also made her one of three Alabama women to break the 22 seconds time in the 50 yards to date!
This great achievement was followed by finishing 6th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.80. The highlight for both Kalia and the Alabama team came with the Gold Medal in the 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay race with a School Record time of 3:09.78.
Congratulations to Kalia and the whole team! We are so proud of what Cypriot athletes can achieve on an international level! It is a pure source of inspiration and hope for everybody!
